The initial phase of each match is the Autonomous Period, lasting for the first 15 seconds. During this time, robots operate solely based on pre-programmed instructions. Our programmers work hard on creating different autonomous programs that work best with our strategy and our alliance partners.

Key Objectives During the Autonomous Period

  • Mobility:
Robots earn points by moving from their starting positions and crossing designated field lines.
  • Autonomous Ranking Point:
If all robots in an alliance cross their designated field lines and at least one robot places a piece of coral on the reef, they earn one ranking point.
  • Game Piece Interaction:
Teams can score by picking up and placing specific game pieces. The main goal is to remove algae, place coral on the reef, and move from their designated field lines to earn points.

After the 15-second autonomous period, the Teleoperated Period (Teleop) begins, lasting for 2 minutes and 15 seconds. During this phase, drivers take control of their robots, working to earn as many points as possible.

Key Objectives During the Teleop Period

  • Scoring Field Elements:
    • Placing coral on the reef earns points, and the higher the coral is placed, the more points it is worth.
    • Coral must not touch algae while on the reef. If coral is touching algae, no points are awarded for the coral touching it.
    • Place algae in your processor to earn additional points.
  • Coopertition Bonus:
Alliances must work together to earn the coopertition bonus. To achieve this, both alliances must place two pieces of algae into their processors.

The Endgame Period is the final 20 seconds of the game.

Key Objectives During the Endgame

  • Climbing the Reef Structure:
    • Robots climb a cage attached to the barge. Each alliance has three available cages.
    • At the start of the match, teams can choose the height of their cages: shallow or deep.
    • Points are awarded based on the height achieved, with the deep cage being worth more points than the shallow cage.
  • Ranking Point:
If the alliance earns enough barge points during the endgame, it will receive the barge ranking point.
